Euripidis: How old is your blog and why did you start it?
Chris Duffy: I started "officially blogging around the summer of 2006. I had been using Digg.com quite a bit for news and finding out about technology, and taking part in the phenomena that is "Social Bookmarking" Often times, I wanted to do more than just post the cool story I found...I want to discuss it (or attempt to spark a discussion about it) Blogging affords a news junkie like myself to become something of an insta-pundit. It's like the cartoon "Nobody knows you're a Dog on the Internet" -- Nobody knows you're a Banker, or this, or that, instead of an expert on X,Y,Z....you have a forum to speak, link to, and connect with others. As long as you're speaking the truth, are compelling &interesting, and, importantly, can back up what you write - it doesn't matter who you are or where you're from...Blogging is very simple and trivial, yet there´s something about it that is very powerful and empowering about it at the same time.
Euripidis: Would you like to share your first post with us ? URL please. Chris Duffy: "Hello World," Maybe- Just Joking ;-) Actually I've changed URL's since I started *seriously* blogging so I really don't have a first good post to point you too.
Euripidis: What is your motivation to continue blogging ? Chris Duffy: To share news, insight, thoughts, and ideas with others. To continually develop and improve as communicator/blogger/writer, etc. Probably one the biggest motivations for me is to meet & engage with others that I otherwise would likely never meet or interact with "offline." To share interesting news and content.
Euripidis: What do you wanna achieve with you blog? Chris Duffy: Ending world hunger is long-term goal, although currently I'd just like to develop a larger subscribed reader base ;-)
Euripidis: Are there a special kind of reader who are reading your blog?Chris Duffy: Other news junkies, social bookmarkers, techies, people who appreciates the "social" aspect of blogging, social bookmarking, and above all, someone with an open mind & sense of humor.
Euripidis: What was the longest time without a new post on your blog? Chris Duffy: No Comment, To embarrassing and incriminating
Euripidis: How much time do you spend on blogging? Chris Duffy: More and More - Between 2 blogs and one website project, I try to keep the blogs updated at least 3 times a week. I will spend an hour or more writing and editing a post.
Euripidis: What is the reason for visitors to return to your blog and become readers? Chris Duffy: Hopefully they take something away from what I am writing about, or just enjoy reading and interacting. Do you use any widgets? which ones? Just the MyBlogLog widget. I am considering adding the Twitter widget though.
Euripidis: Which communities do you like? Why? Chris Duffy: All the social book-marking sites,
Digg.com ,
Del.icio.us ,
Netscape ,
Newsvine , etc Also
MySpace &
Virb .
