Halil: When did you start blogging?

Marco: Fitforfreedom is actually my first own blog. I started it on March, 23th 2007 so it´s really brand new.

Halil: Would you like to share your first post with us ? Url please.

Marco: My very first post was this one: First post , where I wanted to share - you can see it from the URL - what my blog will be about.

Halil: Where did you get your daily inspiration to blog from?

Marco: I´m of course reading many many feeds of other blogs and websites. But also some inspiration does also come from my day job - I´ve created a new category for this just yesterday. -> here . 


Halil: What´s the goal of your blog?

Marco: At this time, it´s more an experiment as I want to see, what is possible to achieve with an own blog. Can I reach thousands of people, can I provide enough interesting content for them? What does it take to monetize such a blog? I´ve written an article about goal setting just to see, how it works. Can I raise from $0.00 to $10.00 a day in 8 weeks? Or is this just a legend? Halil: Are there any posts you are excited to offer?

Marco: I hope this one is valuable for other bloggers: Here I tried to collect some tips about optimizing adsense revenues. Results will be of course posted by me later on.


Halil: Your most commented post? URL?

Marco: Comments have been closed in my wordpress installation by default. I just opened the blog for public comments just yesterday, so my 'most commented post' has to be this one:

Halil: How much time do you spend on blogging?

Marco: I usually spend about 3-4 hours in the evening.


Halil: The top 3 blogs you read?

Marco: I really like these: 1. www.stevepavlina.com/blog 2. www.problogger.net  
3. www.johnchow.com . Very popular blogs, so this does not seem like a real discover.


Halil: From which blogger did you learn the most? What?

Marco: Steve Pavlina provides several very good articles, not only about blogging. He teaches how to get things done, how to improve your effectiveness and many many more. His articles are sometimes really long, but they are definitely worth a closer look.


Halil: How do you generate traffic?

Marco: During the last 3 days, my blog has had an average of 28 visits/day. So am I really generating traffic at this moment? I´m running some adwords, but most of my traffic this week come from my MyBlogLog-Community: http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/community/2007032416505210/ Some visitors come from digg, where I´ve posted two stories and the rest comes from some trackbacks and comments I´ve placed on other blogs.


Halil: What tools do you use for statistics? And how do they help you improve your blog?

Marco: I´m using google analytics and for logfile analysis: WebLogExpert, this gives me quick overview, By now - a the blog is new - there are not so many information that could be used to optimize, but I think with more traffic, these tools will surely become more and more useful. I like the geo-map in google analytics, showing me that my blog is being read all over the world. I had visitors from the US and canada, India, Malaysia, China, Australia, New Zealand and even one from Togo, Africa. That ´s really exciting for me.


Halil: Is there anything you want to say at least?

Marco: I hope my blog will become a valuable source of information and help for people who want to start their own online business. If you want to do it for more than just fun, it will be hard sometimes, but I´d like to encourage people to continue whatever they wanted to do. It will be appreciated if people join me on my way - leaving comments or contact me for further information. I will help, whenever I can.
