Euripidis: Send me a few notes on your background: name, age, where you`re from, etc....
My name is Ron Coleman. I am from Denver, CO. I graduated from the University of Denver with a Degree in Finance, a Minor in Accounting and an emphasis in Investments. I have experience as an Analyst and have been managing a multi-million dollar portfolio for the last year and a half.
Euripidis: When did you had the idea to start blogging ?
Ron Coleman: I want to start by clarifying, FeedTheBull is not a blog. FeedTheBull is a community and a resource for financial news. Many of the contributors have their own blogs and submit them to the site, but we are not a blog on our own. FeedTheBull came to me about 8 months ago when I was doing research for my portfolio. Every news site that I went to had a different spin on the same news, depending on who was paying them to write the article. There was underlying truth in the articles, but it was filled with so much fluff that it was hard to discern at times. What causes the stock market to move irrationally at times? People! And the news that is released, whether good or bad, influences the way people react to a company. The stock market is a generic term used to refer to the organized trading of securities through various exchanges. But people are what make up the market. So why shouldn’t the real market have a say in the news that is published? My thought? We need to stop taking the journalist reports at face value. We need a way to give a Voice! to the readers and open a clear channel to allow for the free exchange of ideas. That way people are properly informed before making any decisions based on the news that is released. Euripidis: Would you like to share with us the URL of your first post?
Ron Coleman: This is one of the first posts to FeedTheBull: First post here
Euripidis: Where did you get your inspiration from?
Ron Coleman: The irrationality of the market and the unreliable news that is published. If I can create a platform that will help restore order to the markets, and give investors a Voice! then I have accomplished what I wanted.
Euripidis: Describe your community in three sentences.
Ron Coleman: FeedTheBull is an exciting and rewarding venture that will help us all become better investors by tearing helping each other tear apart the news and look for the hidden truths in the articles and blogs. I continue to repeat myself, but it is a place to give investors a voice. FeedTheBull is a platform for investors to freely exchange ideas with one another.
Euripidis: Are there any topics you wouldn´t write about?
Ron Coleman: All topics on FeedTheBull relate to the stock market, finance and the economy. We are pretty focused. Euripidis: What kind of people read your blog and who should read it? How are their reactions?
Ron Coleman: Investors from all backgrounds read and contribute to the community. We have people ranging from first time investors to Hedge Fund managers. That is one of the best features. There are people from so many different backgrounds, that there are always a constants stream of new ideas. We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to our site since inception. One of our contributors has said that they get a better response to their articles than Digg!
Euripidis: What tools do you use for statistics? How do they help you improve your blog?
Ron Coleman: We use a few different metrics to track or statistics, Google Analytics being one of them. 8. How many blogs do you have currently in your reader? I have 6 blogs in my reader. Euripidis: The top 3 blogs you read?
Ron Coleman: 1. Masters "O" Equity , 2. Rant About It, 3. Retire Rich Blog
