drsallywitt: Charly, what is your favorite thing to do on the Internet?

Charlyjl: I love looking at all the different things you can do! I love learning about new things, so the Internet is a great platform for that.

I also love meeting new people from all over the world who share interests with me.


drsallywitt: Charly, what do you see as the most important type of work someone should spend their time on as they are learning to work on the internet?

Charlyjl: Good business practice says to focus on your core business. Don't get distracted by all the other bits....

So if you're learning to work on the Internet, have a really clear picture of what you are trying to do and focus on it. For each business and person, that will change as the business evolves... Initially it will probably be market research, product identification etc; then it will probably move to Product Development and / or Traffic Generation.

I would recommend that people find outsourcing resources that they are happy to work with and can trust. Yes, the business owner should understand enough of the basics to determine whether they're getting a good deal or not, but then leave the 'grunt' work to others. This would normally mean leaving the technical side of the business to a trusted resource - running the hosting account, email setup and maintenance, websites / blogs etc. This type of work can be time consuming and whilst it's important is not necessarily directly revenue generating for a business.

As you know Sally, with your own products, it's really important to be promoting what you do. As it's your product, you know about it best and you need to be writing articles, blogging and doing the whole promo thing - if you had to focus on maintaining your site, dealing with the host etc, - you would loose valuable time .


drsallywitt: Is affiliate marketing a real possibility for people to use to build their income online?

Charlyjl: For people just starting out building a business on the Internet Affiliate Marketing is a great, low cost way to start out.

I know several people who make their entire 5 or 6 figure income using Affiliate products alone.

However, Affiliate Marketing can be quite competitive as well and I feel that developing your own product in your chosen niche is the way most people should go.

I still do a lot of Affiliate Marketing and I'm also thankful that others do to - because they will promote the products I create!


drsallywitt: How can you help people solve their technical challenges in their own home on their own computer? How do you do that?

Charlyjl: I can help in two basic ways.

I can either coach you through your technical challenge by walking you through the process, literally taking you by the hand and showing you how to do it. I achieve this using the wonders of a piece of screen sharing software and Skype to be able to see your screen, or show you my screen. If the problem is related to the computer setup, I am often able to review the setup remotely and make recommendations on how to resolve it.

For those who just want it done, I am available on contract to do the work required.
