Halil: Why did you start blogging?Wayward Son: When I quit using drugs I spent a great deal of time on the Web searching for different ways to support my recovery and expand my life without using. The blogging was commenced to journalize the entire arc of my recovery.
As it turns out, recovery is not an arc but an open-ended, inverted triangle with a life of isolation at the bottom that keeps expanding outward. Everything I do, including blogging, means something a little different and expands my life a little more each day.
Halil: The top 3 post you write?Wayward Son: I may not be understanding this question correctly.
I hardly revisit my posts so I don't have a favorite. I look at them as being either affirmations or part of a dialog.
Halil: Where do you get your inspiration from to write? Wayward Son: Good question. I really do not know. I avoid writing when I am overly troubled about something, especially if I am in a state of rage. I have been down that road before and it is not cathartic in the least. If I have emerged from a troubling period of thought or behavior and have come full circle with an understanding of it, then I will try and write about it. Otherwise I don't much like to dwell in that space. When I get lost about what to write, I just start covering the days events in a journalizing way. Without exception these posts become an articulation of much to be grateful for.
If I encounter a particularly joyous moment, I will definitely write about it. Joy is my beacon.
