I am the average student (of computer science) type of guy: hyperintelligent, sleepy, not boring, nerdy and never far away from an internet access point. I listen to rock music and like movies that make the audience think (e.g. weird movies like Donnie Darko). My friends know I have much to say and can't be easily stopped while talking. My blog is some sort of valve for this "urge"
Halil: Why do you blog in German and not in English?
Sebbi: My main audience is German and since the blog is a personal blog I see no need to blog in a different language. And, of course, my English is far from perfect.
Halil: Describe your blog!
Sebbi: It's a personal blog. I write about things that happen to me and interesting stuff that happened somewhere else or that I found on the internet. My blog has no special topic, but I often see it as a geek blog also it hasn't seen as much geek content lately ... so, it's a personal blog and nothing more ;-)
Halil: Which category would you choose for your blog?
Sebbi: personal, everything ... I have no special topic.
Halil: Why did you start blogging and what do you want to achieve with this blog?
Sebbi: I wanted to document my time in the civil service (Zivildienst?) in some way. At this time it wasn't really a blog, but it was the start of it. I continued the website as a blog, because of the many comments I received. From there on it was all about comments, feedback and networking. What do I want to achieve? I don't know ... world domination perhaps?
Halil: What is your motivation to continue blogging?
Sebbi: Comments and other feedback. Without those blogging wouldn't be interesting at all (who wants to talk to a wall?).
Halil: What experience did you made with your blog (reactions from reader) and which where your acmes?
Sebbi: It is always good to help someone. If I get a comment like "wow thanks, that helped me a lot" I become all warm and fuzzy. Acmes? Some posts received rather nice feedback, but I wouldn't call them "acmes".
Halil: What kind of people read your blog and who should read it?
Sebbi: My friends and some strangers I picked up over the years regularly read my blog, but most of the readers (one-time-readers) come from search engines. Who should read it? Who am I to tell somebody to read my blog? Everybody is invited, but nobody should read my blog, because we all know: reading blogs is a giant waste of time.
Halil: Where do you get your inspiration from to write?
Sebbi: Newssites, the local newspaper, tv, other blogs and things that happen while I am not sitting in front of a computer. Not from a Palantir :-)
Halil: Which of your blog posts is the most valueable for your readers and why?
Sebbi: First post here (because it contains something really useful, a extension for an anti-spam-plugin) Halil: If this interview could be read by millions of people, what would you want to tell them? Sebbi: Don't waste your time doing meaningless things (like reading blogs). Do something meaningful (like writing a blog). :-) Your URL: http://www.sebbi.de
