Halil: When did you start blogging?

Steve:
I started officially blogging in May of 2005

Halil: Would you like to share your first post with us ? URL ?

Steve:
My first post is at: http://swotvision.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html

Halil: Where did you get your daily inspiration to blog from?

Steve:
My daily inspiration to BLOG came from wanting to get more in touch with my creative side. I had recently published my book The Ripple Effect (www.ripplecentral.com) and needed to continue that mental conversation with myself. It just so happens that mental conversation took the form of a BLOG and before I knew it I had a loyal base of readers.

Halil: What´s the goal of your blog?

Steve:
My goal initially was to keep my Ripple-Centric approach to life out there so people would want to read my book and learn about my work. But my goals are different. I believe that my entire purpose in life is to show companies and individuals the power of the Ripple and how it can have a direct impact on your success and happiness (financial, mental, physical, etc.). My goal is to get so many readers that my BLOG becomes a conduit of connection and community.

Halil: Are there any posts you are excited to offer?

Steve: Picking just one post is hard but there are a couple that have gotten huge traction. More because I try and temper my serious posts with some humor.
  1. One post that still gets lots of traction is... The Top Ten Things I Hate About Networking
  2. Another one that is:  Hooray for Groundhog Day!!!
  3. On a more serious note: Power of Passion
  4. And a sentimental note: Those Special Dad Moments

Halil: Your most commented post?

Steve: Most commented on BLOG post would have to be The Top Ten Things I Hate About Networking and The Next Top Ten Things I Hate About Networking  --- both of those posts really struck a cord in both a fun and connective way.  I bet I have received literally hundreds of emails, phone calls and BLOG comments.

Halil: The top 3 blogs you read?

Steve:

  1. Drew's Marketing Minute
  2. Seth Godin's Blog
  3. Random Good Stuff

Halil: From which blogger did you learn the most? What?

Steve:
Learned the most from?  Hmmm tough on but probably Darren Rowse. I probably learned how to generate traffic by being me and not trying to bullshit my audience.

Halil: How do you generate traffic?

Steve:
How do I generate traffic? I have no particular strategy. I am fairly active on www.mybloglog.com and post my BLOG to my Myspace.com site. I guess I pretty much depend on people to spread the good work of my stuff and so far so good. Many Ripples have come to me because of that!

Halil: What tools do you use for statistics? And how do they help you improve your blog?

Steve: I use Statcounter and it seems to work okay. I just like seeing who is hitting my BLOG and how long they stay. I have literally seen my BLOG get discovered by thousands of people throughout the world and I have been able to pick up a rather loyal following. I love stats for the sake of it just being fun to see what kind of power your written word might be having out there in the world.

Halil: Is there anything you want to say at least?

Steve:  I just want to say how much I appreciate you inviting me to participate in your interview. I look forward to seeing the final product and perhaps picking up an entire new audience that wants to learn to Ripple!
