When did you had the idea to start blogging?
Not so long ago. As a matter of fact, it all started in November last year when one of my clients needed some SEO advice. He suggested I should start a blog and share this knowledge. His idea was good as it was welcomed by most of my clients who consider that a blog is less invasive than a newsletter. They’ve bookmarked the site and read it whenever they desire.
Where did you get your daily blog inspiration from?
I don’t blog daily. I wish I could, but I have to work on other projects that pay. Being a freelance online public relations consultant is not an easy task and if I am not careful I might end up with disappointed clients. I have to deliver what I promise in the right time frame. I also have to make sure that what my clients get is a quality product. My inspiration comes from them – from their questions and concerns. It also comes from other bloggers or from my readers. eWritings is a tool for me. I use it to communicate and build up relationships with other professionals. I also use it to share knowledge and to help other freelancers or bloggers who use their Web logs to make a difference and enhance our lives.
What`s the goal of your blog?
To make a difference, to give something back to the online community, because this is my place of work (so I consider the other bloggers my colleagues) and this is also my "school". There are so many wonders in this world… I just wish I had the time to browse the Web and discover them. I am also doing my best to bring valuable information and interesting topics for my visitors’ reading pleasure. I try to make people aware of the benefits and the drawbacks of the Internet. Yet the most important goal is to achieve a common consent when it comes to Web ethics. For example the ambitious Blogger Power project, started in cooperation with Jon Harmon, is already gaining the attention of the offline media because it had such a great support from so many bloggers.
Is there anything you ever wanted to post but did not post for some reason.
No. I am a sincere person and if I have something to say, I say it… I do have a trick though: I have a special "ramble" blog for this purpose where I write about all the things that come to my mind. On eWritings the self-censure functions as its best. Are there any topics you would not write about? It really depends on the topic, but I don’t think there are. I think I could write about anything as long as this doesn’t go against my ethics.
How many blogs do you have currently in your reader?
Too many to count. I’m sometimes "lost" in my "sea of blogs". I don’t read so much throughout the week – well I do read public relations and other niche blogs. The weekend is my "special treat" time. I dedicate my time to the blogs I discover during my random browsing during the week and I gladly recommend the ones that touch my heart to my readers.
The top 3 blogs you read?
That’s easy: Liz Strauss’ Successful Blog , Jon Harmon’s Force for Good and Graywolf’s SEO Blog .
From which blogger did you learn the most? What?
Liz Strauss. What? Everything. I’ve been reading her blogs for two years already. She’s teaching us all about the real values of blogging, she’s a great person and an inspiration… my online "mentor" if you wish. Do you use any toolbars? Which ones and why? Just my normal Google toolbar for Firefox. For no particular reason. It’s a matter of habit.
How do you generate traffic?
For my clients I use SEO and various social media channels plus other PR tools. For myself… everything goes smooth and natural. I don’t lose sleep over traffic. I network with what I like to cal "power bloggers" – kind people who write to give us a little bit of their hearts, to share their dreams and knowledge.
What is the reason for visitors to return to your blog and become readers?
I hope they can find answers to some of their questions here and I also hope they are ready to share a dream… Is there anything you want to say to other blogger? Respect each other, be kind, be sincere, be tolerant and the rest will follow.
