wmraul: "Start your own free shirt shop!" You gotta be kidding .. shirtcity: Some things in life really are free. At shirtcity you only pay for the shirts that you order. So if you feel you got some nice design ideas that you want to wear yourself or that some people might be interested in, you really should check out www.myshirtcity.com Register, sign up and get going. We designed the shop editor in a way that is easy and comfortable to use, so that no programming skills are needed to have your own web store. Still you have full control of your shop, the look and feel of it, the products you offer and the prices at which you sell them. The final price determines your benefit that is paid out to you at the end of each trimester. The finished shop can easily be integrated in or linked up to your own site, blog or myspace profile. Once you put it up, we take care of all the rest, printing the shirts, shipping them, the payment - you just have to make the people see your shop. The more you promote it and the cooler your shirts are, the more money you earn. wmraul: Ok, one who reach on your site may design his own shirt, using an online tool. Cool. What can be used as image-design and what kinda ink you`ll use ? shirtcity: As image design you can use anything you want, unless it is copyrighted by someone else. When designing, you should already have the printing methods in mind. There's several possibilities: The printing method of your choice depends on the motive. If you want to have a photo or an image with many colors, faded borders and fine lines printed, we use photo print foil. Advantage: You can use as many colors as you want and you can use any graphic program for making the design. It can be uploaded in all standard formats (.jpg, .gif, .png etc.). Disadvantage: There's a plastic layer on your shirt which takes the natural softness of the cloth away. It can look cool, but it's never the same as screenprinted shirts. Plus the colors don't last forever. They'd better go on white shirts, photo prints on dark shirts are a bit more expensive and can only be hand washed. For graphic motives with one up to three colors used, we use (monochromatic) flex or flock foils. The motive is cut out by a plotter and then pressed on the shirt. Flex is a thin rubber-ish elastic layer, flock stands slightly out and gives a silky feel (it feels really great, I have to caress my Flock prints all the time). They last much longer, the colors don't wear out and -in my opinion- they look better. All of shirtcity's own motives are made that way. Disadvantage: There is a limited range of foil colors, and every color requires an extra plotting and pressing process. The designs for the latter method are best handed in as vector graphics (.eps, .ai, .cdr, .fh), otherwise our graphic service will vectorize them for you. For professional screenprinted shirts in larger quantities (from 50 pcs. on), e.g. for your club, team, school class, company ... you can refer to our subcompany www.sumoprint.com wmraul: What "blank" t-shirt`s brand(s) you use ? shirtcity: Currently it's jt's, Sonar, Fruit Of The Loom, Hanes and Anvil. We're planning to add some more clothes and brands to our product range soon, so stay tuned. wmraul: I created a magnificent t-shirt design, when I`ll receive 500$ ? shirtcity: Two ways: a) you sell lots of them. Let's say you determined the price of your shirt at a rate where you make 5$ benefit with every shirt sold. Make 100 people command of them and you have 500$. Still, it's up to you to make your shop and your designs known in public. b) you take part in Shirtcity's monthly design contest - and win it. Still, there can be only one winner a month. But you can activite your friends to subscribe and vote for you. Still - as everywhere - it's all a matter of promotion. wmraul: Hey, somebody would like to give a gift to someone, but not a t-shirt. Can you help the one ? shirtcity: We can. Beside all kind of shirts, sweaters and tops for boys and girls, we offer: - Underwear - Caps - Baby and Kid's Clothes - Buttons - Mugs - Bags - Accessoires such as Lanyards and Wallets - Toys (stuffed animals with printed shirts) - Shirts for dogs (!!!!) and, as I already said in question 3, there is a lot more to come. Thank you for your interest!
