Halil: Send me a few notes of you and your backround. merkal2005: My name is Mert. I am 33 years old and from Istanbul, Turkey. I am a naval architecture. I have been working for a multi national shipping company since 1998. My profession is marketing. Writing has always been my hobby and best way to express myself. That is why i like blogging very much! Halil: You are a Turkish guy why did you start to in blog in English? merkal2005: I want to be in close contact with the world. I want to represent my country in blogosphere. That is why i choose English. I also have some Turkish blogs. Halil: How did you come up with the idea to call your blog: Let's meet where the continents meet!? merkal2005: Well, this is great question! Thanks for giving me chance to clarify. Istanbul is a city where two continents, namely Europe and Asia, meets. It is a city where west and east cultures meet with each other and learn a lot from them. I want my blog to be like Istanbul. A meeting place for everybody in the world, i am open to new cultures and cultural exchange. Also guest bloggers will be welcomed all over the world! Halil: About what kind of topics do you write? Why? merkal2005: Actually i am a very curious person, so you can imagine i have interest on many topics. If i believe that one article will add value to my readers then i post it. Also i don't want to focus on too many things and forget writing about Istanbul. I also want my readers to enjoy the time they spend in my blog so i frequently post funny videos. I believe without laugh you can not be creative. Halil: Do you have some tips for other blogger? merkal2005: First of all, when you say "blogger" i understand a unique personality, who is smart and curious about the things happening around him/her.I think a blogger should be open to new ideas, cultures and experiments. Collaboration and cooperation is very important. There are a lot of smart bloggers all around the world. Blogging is not a one man show. Alliances are important here. I think every blogger should have buddies all around the world. And if you work hard and keep the momentum, i believe sooner or later you will be in better position. Just keep blogging!
